Trace | Smiths Station HS Senior Portraits

Trace's senior session was such a standout from beginning to end! Trace and his family hold a special place in my heart - Trace is the 3rd sibling I’ve photographed for senior portraits! Being part of all three of their senior years has been a huge honor, and I was excited that we could capture so much unique variety and personality to celebrate his senior year. When families return again and again, it reminds me how important these moments are, not just for the senior, but for the people who’ve cheered them on. Keep reading for more about this session!

We kicked things off at the studio, where we captured images that spoke to his impressive career in track and cross country. He brought all of his jerseys, medals, and shoes which we used for a few setups, and we also planned for some creative Photoshop edits in post to bring even more drama and intensity to those athletic shots. Think bold, graphic, and a bit epic :)

From there, we made our way to the Gouge Performing Arts Center, where Trace rocked a tailored navy suit that made him look like a professional athlete stepping out for a media appearance. This was probably my favorite set. I loved all the clean lines and color harmony - guys, take notes!

Trace carried that same quiet confidence into more casual looks at our final location: Chewacla State Park. Wearing a blue polo, khakis, and later a jeans-and-jacket combo, we made the most of the warm (ok, honest, SUPER warm) Alabama summer sunshine and scenic lake views. The summer vibes were complete with paddle boats and canoes! For this whole session I had a great time using off-camera flash to shape the light and create high-contrast images that really captured Trace’s style.
