Sydney | Beulah Senior Portraits
Some senior sessions are smooth sailing, and others take a few unexpected twists along the way. Sydney’s portraits were definitely the second kind, but every turn in the road led to a session that was full of creativity and personality. In the end, this Beulah High School senior session was the perfect reflection of her, and I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out.
We started Sydney’s senior portrait experience with hair and makeup by Tori Mejia at Artistry Beauty Bar, who gave her a fresh, pretty and polished look! From there, our first stop was downtown Auburn at Beignets & Brew, the cutest little shop with bright decor that paired perfectly with Sydney’s feminine floral dress. While downtown, we also stopped by some blooming hydrangeas on Auburn’s campus, which made a beautiful natural backdrop that complimented her outfit so well.
And then…cue the rain! Despite the previously sunny forecast, we started feeling sprinkles of rain, and before long it became clear we’d have to change our plans. We quickly shifted into outfit two: a casual black top and jeans paired with Sydney’s beloved Harry Potter books. Even though the bricks showed the raindrops, I knew I’d be able to edit most of them out later, and we captured some truly fun portraits in between showers. But by that point, the downpour and humidity had done a number on Sydney’s curls, so we called it for the day and planned a “part two” session later that month.
Round two was absolutely worth the wait. Sydney headed back to Tori for hair and makeup, and then we ventured to a remote creek location I’ve photographed a few times before. It’s gotten pretty overgrown lately, so we were on vigilant snake watch! But thankfully, no reptiles in sight! Instead, we got magic: flowing water, soft natural light, and a peaceful setting that perfectly fit Sydney’s style. Many of her favorite photos came from this part of her senior session, and I have to agree, it was worth every bit of rescheduling.
Finally, we wrapped things up on home turf - literally! Beulah High School! Sydney changed into her cheer uniform and grabbed her poms for a set of spirited senior cheerleader portraits at the field. We added some giant gold “26” balloons to celebrate the Class of 2026, and it was the perfect way to close out her senior portrait experience.
Sydney’s session is proof that even when things don’t go as planned, we can always create beautiful, meaningful portraits that reflect your personality and story. Whether it’s senior photos in Auburn, Opelika, Beulah, or beyond, I love helping seniors and their families create customized sessions that are fun, memorable, and true to who they are.
