Capturing Character: Jackson's Senior Session

Embarking on a senior portrait session often feels like uncovering the layers of a person's story, and my experience last fall with Jackson, a senior at Auburn High School, was no exception. With his effortless coolness and multifaceted interests, Jackson brought a wealth of character and charm to our session.

From our first meeting, it was evident that Jackson's charisma and creativity would shine through in his senior portraits. We discussed his vision for the session, blending elements of his casual style with nods to his involvement in theater and passion for filmmaking.

Our journey began in Downtown Opelika, where the artsy vibe and historic charm provided the perfect backdrop for capturing Jackson's laid-back yet sophisticated style. From there, we transitioned back to my studio in Auburn, where we embraced a clean, classic aesthetic while incorporating elements of Jackson's favorite interests. Capturing Jackson's style and personality was a delightfully dynamic process, from his relaxed demeanor in casual attire to the moments of transformation as he slipped into character for the theater headshots.

One of the highlights of our session was incorporating Jackson's passion for filmmaking. It was a thrill to capture him with one of his cameras, symbolizing his dedication to storytelling and creative expression. Jackson has a few short films under his belt now - including "Pickles," a quirky take on mastering the sport of pickleball, which I saw showcased at a local film festival! Another project of his is titled “I Loved It", a coming of age story.

Working with Jackson was an absolute pleasure, and I am grateful for the opportunity to capture his journey as he prepares to step into the next chapter of his life. Senior portraits serve as cherished memories that encapsulate a person's high school experience, and I am honored to have played a role in preserving Jackson's story through photography.
