When your wedding day is May the 4th, it’s bound to be a great occasion! I was so blessed to meet Josh and Alex in Atlanta a few weeks ago to be both guest and wedding photographer for the day. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, their beautiful and sacred marriage ceremony was performed inside the Atlanta Georgia Temple, joining their families for time and eternity.
We’ve been friends with Alex’s family for many years. I’ve had the chance to photograph their family, and one of her sisters for senior photos, but this wedding now tops my list for favorite Nicholas family photo event.
The first thing I loved was that Alex and Josh chose to do their “first look” a few days before the wedding. Separating these photos from the wedding day takes a lot of pressure off the big day, and helps this special moment be just about the bride and groom. And you guys, these two are the sweetest couple. Every moment of this first look session was full of genuine love and affection.
BONUS! The talented and lovely Paulina Klabacka joined us for the first look session, and captured these absolutely adorable moments and put together a sweet film!
Then, on a super super bright, sunny Friday morning, Josh and Alex were married! Many of their close friends and family were able to attend. I loved the navy and blush details, and subtle Star Wars references!
The Atlanta Temple is a beautiful place, expertly designed from the building itself to the grounds all around the building. Throw in a magazine worthy couple, and a stunning gown and veil, and it’s a recipe for breathtaking photos!
The reception was held back in Alex’s hometown of Auburn Alabama, in the family’s home church building. The kept the party short and sweet, but still made time for all the usual traditions, and a few dances, concluding with a sparkler exit!
Again, to Alex and Josh, thank you for having me be part of your day. I was so touched by your love for each other, and so happy to see your love grow through eternity. May the 4th be with you ;)
