Sometimes when you live in Auburn, it's hard to see anything but AUBURN everywhere you go! I never lived super close to a college town until I attended Auburn University myself, and since my family has decided to stick around a while, it's been interesting to watch just how much everything, I mean EVERYTHING revolves around this amazing school.
When the Hurleys and I were planning their family session, this was a big topic! They wanted to have some nice photos taken of their family in a more urban setting than a park, and be recognizable since it is meaningful as their hometown, but didn't want everything to scream AUBURN. I think our mission was accomplished!
I have really loved working with this family. Back in the fall, I photographed Logan's senior portraits, and not only was it fun to see how he had changed even in a few months, but also get to meet the whole family and get to know them better. I'm glad that even though the focus of this session was the sweet (and maybe rare) brother and sister portraits, I am glad we were able to also capture the whole family together before Logan starts college.
And finally, I can't blog this session properly without including my experience with the Hurleys after their session. Since switching to a business model that allows me to spend more time with my clients before and after the session is complete, all of my experiences since have been nothing but confirmations that this was the right direction for my business. After the session, I met with the Hurleys in their home to select their favorite photos, and decide which ones to print for their home. I enjoyed seeing their reactions when we looked through all of their images blown up big on their TV screen, but what I enjoyed even more was being able to hand deliver their printed photos and see their excitement to hold them up to the wall right away. This and similar experiences with other clients makes my heart so happy, and I look forward to many years of serving my clients this way in the future!
